About Coach John

Hi! I’m John. It seems the common wisdom on pages such as this is to write them in the third person, to frame the information in such a way that it seems one is such a big deal that some relevant third party deigned to do a big deal write up. Given I’ve committed my life to holding space for others to step wholly into their fullest most honest chosen selves, such a pretense just doesn’t sit well with my integrity. So, dear reader, I ask your indulgence and forgiveness as I break from form and write to you as I would speak with you.

I love people. I love people in all their forms, faults and foibles. I adore the perfect imperfection of us all, and it is to me one of the greatest privileges to have access to the most intimate thoughts and experiences of my clients and friends to help them get more of what they really want in life and in business by experiencing freedom. I love working with cool people who are up to cool shit and want to get a better experience and results out of it. Oh, yeah… I curse sometimes, I could’ve said that upfront.

You might be asking “Well, that’s cool and what makes you think you’re qualified to help me with my cool stuff?” That is a wildly important question and I will do my best to give a succinct rundown of my education and experience:

  • I’ve spent thousands of hours coaching and mentoring cool people who are up to cool stuff and they have generated significant transformations in their experiences and results because of their new action and our work together.
  • I have a bachelor’s degree in business management and a master’s degree in business administration
  • I have completed advanced professional coach training through an ICF (International Coaching Federation, coachingfederation.org) accredited coaching program and hold the ICF Professional Certified Coach designation
  • I have been blessed with over 20 years of rich experience in business and leadership across multiple industries and companies varying in size from 10 to over 50,000. In these roles I have built new capabilities, led the transformation of customer and employee experiences, and developed leaders who went on to be the best leader their people ever had.
  • I’ve attended Harvard Business School Executive Education, am an IBM certified Design Thinking Coach, and have training in Project Management and Process Improvement
  • And, I may not be the right fit for you and that’s ok. We can’t know for sure whether it makes sense for us to work together unless we talk a couple times and get a feel for it. That’s why I won’t accept any payment until we are both sure we are the right fit

Well, that stretched me out of my comfort zone (I dislike any sort of bragging about myself). I tell my clients the only thing they really need to know about me is why I do what I do. I believe every single person on the planet has tremendous potential caged within them, and I get out bed every morning to uncage people. It’s awesome and it’s what my life is for. I can understand, though, that you may want a bit more since you’ve read this far. I am the oldest of six children and share my world with my three children and our cuddly dog. I am currently at the phase of life where youth sports and music performances fill my free time with joyous ruckus, and I love it. I am a voracious reader of both fiction and non-fiction averaging 50-60 books a year. In small group settings I prefer to listen more than talk, and I love bringing groups of hundreds or even thousands on a learning journey through storytelling and speech when I get the chance. I love dad jokes. They are punny and silly, and I think we could all always use a good laugh.

I am at cause for you, reader. Whether we ever get the chance to speak or not, I am at cause for you and rooting for you from the place of love of our shared humanity. You are perfect. You are whole. And you are good.

May you be free from suffering.

May you be healthy.

May you be happy.

May you find peace and joy!
